Event Details

The Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce is organizing a networking dinner focusing on "China Dinner: adapting your China strategy in post-pandemic China". This event will take place on 4 May 2023 at 17h30 at the Cercle Royal La Concorde, Kouter 150, 9000 Gent.

Business in China are facing greater challenges in the China market than any point in the past four decades, due to economic and geo-political uncertainty. While most analyst believe that these tensions will eventually ease and that business will largely remain unaffected, nevertheless it would be sensible to review your strategic plans and adapt accordingly. Changes to legislation have created greater regulatory and compliance issues that have added an extra layer of complexity to business.

Boards of multinationals companies are asking their management to come up with contingency plans for their business interests in China. A sensible first step should be to conduct a legal risk assessment to map out where your business is potentially vulnerable in the event of a more volatile and adverse environment.

Now returned to Europe after an enforced three years in China as a result of Covid restrictions in Shanghai, Philippe Snel will discuss the current state of affairs for foreign businesses in China and suggests how they should best prepare for what may happen in the months and years to come.

Philippe Snel has been practising as foreign lawyer in China for the past 20 years. He has advised hundreds of foreign investors, companies, entrepreneurs and managers on how successfully to tackle the China Market. He has made outstanding contributions to the development of Shanghai, recognized by the city Shanghai - which has bestowed on him the Silver Magnolia Award, one of the highest honours awarded to foreign nationals in Shanghai.
