On 29 April, Gwenn Sonck (宋惠安), Executive Director, EU-China Business Association (EUCBA)/ Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce (FCCC), participated in the Weihai Investment Conference, which took place in The Hague. The mayor of Weihai, Mrs Kong Fanping, introduced Weihai’s investment environment. Weihai is located in Shandong province. During the seminar, I delivered a speech on why foreign investors have chosen Weihai as an important location for investment, such as: the excellent government services, an efficient and business-friendly environment, a highly skilled workforce linked to clusters of research and academic institutions and a good living environment. What also makes Weihai special is its attractive living environment. It has a unique natural environment with 1000 sq km of coastline! Several of our member companies, such as Bekaert and Beaulieu International Group already have major investments in Weihai. They have benefitted from the city's very business-friendly investment environment. The city has established several pillar industries, including machinery, food, transportation equipment, textiles & garments, medicine & medical devices, electronics and new materials. The emerging industries of Weihai are medical & healthcare, information & outsourcing and "intelligent" manufacturing. From the 24th to the 26th of May, the Chief Representative of Weihai in Europe, will be in Belgium. If you are interested to learn more about the advantages of growing your business in China, a company visit can be arranged.
